Can a notary public sign a statutory declaration?

Short answer is yes. The singer of the declaration is required to appear before a notary to do two things . First, the signer's identity must be verified. Secondly the declaration will be signed in the presence of the notary. Thereafter the notary will sign to indicate that the declaration was signed in the presence of the notary.
